A look at our (three!) philanthropies...
Delta Phi Epsilon supports the Association for Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders, which is dedicated to the prevention and alleviation of eating disorders by providing programs for the entire eating disorder community. ANAD believes that early detection of eating disorders save lives. Therefore, ANAD works to educate parents, teachers, families and communities about the dangers of eating disorders and how to recognize someone who needs help through their website, newsletters, and outreach events & programs. Every year, we host a dodgeball tournament at Skyzone to raise money for ANAD, as well as participate in Eating Disorder Awareness Week with daily events on campus.
Delta Phi Epsilon also supports the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which has been the driving force behind the pursuit of a cure since it's founding in 1955. Cystic Fibrosis, an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system by producing an unusually thick mucus that fills up those organs, affects nearly 70,000 people world-wide. Due to the work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, advances in medical treatment and research have increased the life expectancy of someone with Cystic Fibrosis nearly 30 years--from about 5 years to about 35 years. The millions of dollars that Delta Phi Epsilon has raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has aided in many of these advances. Every year, we host our themed social, Charity Ball, which raises thousands for the foundation. We also participate in multiple Cystic Fibrosis Foundation events throughout the year, such as the Wishes for Wendy softball tournament and the 65 Roses 5k.
Delta Phi Epsilon's third and final philanthropic cause is the Education Foundation, which works to ensure that women have access to opportunities to learn and contribute to their communities. The foundation focuses on fundraising to provide scholarships to sisters and grants to the sorority, our alumnae and our philanthropic partners. The foundation encourages the personal and professional development of women, as well as aids sisters during times of need. Every year, throughout the month of March, sisters collect private donations to put toward this fund. In March of 2015, Delta Phi Epsilon raised $134, 268.41 to support this cause.
In addition to our three official philanthropies, Delta Phi Epsilon boasts involvement in many philanthropic organizations both on and off campus such as: Dance Marathon, Relay for Life, Wishes for Wendy, the American Cancer Society, Children's Miracle Network and the Brian Parks Foundation, to name a few. Our sisters are passionate about Delta Phi Epsilon's causes, as well as the causes important to sisters, Greek life, and the Kennesaw community.
